Sometimes an event can cause a trauma, meaning a deeply distressing or disturbing experience.
To disturb is subjective to what was previously undisturbed: one person's calm is another person's hell. Hell is other people. People disturb each other, but who is to gauge its significance? We are caught in a perpetual cycle of experience, subjectivity, reaction, definition. What about the person who recovers from an accident quicker than another? The stages of grief are not uniform, the process does not follow instructions. Knowledge gives way to perception for us to define for ourselves what is happening. I feel sad. I feel guilty. I am proud. I have regret. I am good. I am bad. I am in control by having a vocabulary for it.
How are you before you are disturbed?
To disturb meaning to interfere with normal arrangement, to cause to feel anxious, to interrupt the relaxation or peace of another.
The sun sometimes disturbs me from sleep but I am not traumatized by the intrusion.
Experience as a noun means practical contact with, and observation of, facts and events. In which we should not overlook that something described as being practical is being described as so nearly the case that it can be regarded as so. That the adjective describes the subject as virtual.
Experience from the Latin experiri, meaning try.
Compare with experiment.
Compare with expert.
Consider how an experiment is practically unknowing and an expert practically knows everything about its subject.
When not disturbed, is one assumed to be neutral?
Neutral meaning neither helping nor supporting any side of a conflict. As an adjective it describes evading commitment, not by stealth but by having no leaning, impartial. A synonym of neutral is equitable - or open-minded - or disinterested - or uninvolved - or indifferent - or unemotional. How is the machine engineered to resolve a conflict without having emotion?
As an adjective it describes that which has no strongly marked or positive characteristics or features. A synonym is unobjectionable. Do I evade objectification if I am neutral as a character? That which is unobjectionable is acceptable by having no objections. The passive compliance that is heralded for its unremarkability. To have nothing to remark upon, to have nothing to write home about, to have no words: to create an objecthood by the very absence of distinguishing it as anything at all.
Nothing is something, so you can't make nothing out of nothing.
But you can always make nothing out of something.
And something is always something already, even when it is nothing to begin with.
You just can't make nothing out of nothing to begin with.
Because then you have something.
